Troops kill 5 terrorists, rescue 7 victims in Borno

Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD) killed five members of Boko Haram/Islamic States for West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists and rescued seven abducted victims in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno.

The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, revealed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

Enenche said that the troops of 192 Battalion reinforced by the Air Task Force, fruitfully raided the terrorists’ location at Hamdaga Makaranta town in Gwoza on Sept. 6.

He said that the troops acted on trustworthy intelligence on the activities of the terrorists in the area.

According to him, the brave troops crushed them killing five, while others escaped with gun shots wounds.

“Troops also cleared nine identified isolated structures and farmlands in the area.

“Furthermore, troops successfully rescued seven kidnapped victims comprising two females and five children.

“Currently the gallant troops have dominated the area with aggressive patrols,” he said.

Enenche said that the Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry, cleverness and encourage, begging them to strengthen the assault against the criminal elements in the North East.
