Easter Celebration: FRSC Cautions Motorists Against Drunk Driving

The command of the Idiroko unit of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, warmed motorists against drunk driving and reckless driving to avoid accidents during the celebration of Easter.

Mr. Akinwunmi Olaluwoye, the commander of the FRSC’s Idiroko unit, gave the warning in an interview on Tuesday, in Ota, Ogun.

Naijablaze.Com reports that Christians will celebrate Good Friday this year on April 2 and Easter on April 5.

Olaluwoye said the warning became necessary because drunk and reckless driving contributed to some of the road accidents that claimed the lives of many in the state.

The unit commander warned motorists against drunk driving during the Easter celebration, as a breathalyzer had been provided to corps personnel who would be on the highways to test misguided drivers.

“The FRSC would like to issue a warning to drivers who enjoy drinking drink and driving, because anyone arrested will face the wrath of the law.

“We are not going to cross our hands and allow motorists to engage in nefarious acts that could endanger other road users or result in unnecessary loss of life.

“The FRSC will do everything in its power during the Easter period to ensure that people arrive safely at their various destinations,” he said.

Olaluwoye said staff would be on highways to monitor and control traffic to ensure mental health as well as to check motorists for excess.

The unit commander, however, warned against excessive overtaking and refrain from flouting traffic rules and regulations in order to curb accidents during the celebration of Easter.
