Presidency declares no need for protest over reported corruption in NDDC, EFCC

The presidency criticised a plot by the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to go aboard on a protest over reported cases of corruption in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

A presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, revealed there is no need for the labour union to embark on protest because the executive and legislative arms of government already probing the reported cases of fraud in involved government agencies.

On Monday, August 3, in a statement clarified that there is a necessity for an appropriate enquiry before lawbreakers face trial and conviction in a democratic society.

Concurring to the presidential aide, the procedure of justice must be permitted to run its full course.

Shehu observed that the Buhari’s government is devoted to certifying that all those found culpable of corrupt practices face the law.

He called on the TUC to offer a hand in reinforcing the fight contrary to corruption in the nation’s interest.
