Nigerian Troops kill 20 Boko Haram members in Borno

A fierce encounter between Nigerian soldiers and Boko Haram insurgents on the north-western part of Baga town in Borno State. Has left a minimum of 20 members of the terrorist group dead.

Coordinator of Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche confirmed this in a statement released on Sunday May 17.

He stated troops performed the decisive intercept offensive operation with the assist of the Nigerian Army Super Camp in Baga. In opposition to the insurgents armed with mortars, rocket-propelled grenades, and small weapons.

Eneche stated the terrorists had been on their way to attack villages surrounding Baga before the gunfight took place. Although no Nigerian soldier died within the assault. Nevertheless 9 soldiers wounded in the operation and evacuated to Sector 3 hospital for treatment.

Eneche stated; “The troops attacked their convoy with overwhelming firepower, killing 20 BHT/ISWAP criminals, captured six AK 47 rifles, 520 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and five 36 hand grenades.

“Nevertheless, 9 of our gallant soldiers wounded in action with no loss of life.

They were evacuated to Sector three hospital for treatment.”
