Gunmen storm church programme, kidnap pastor, demand N10million ransom

Unidentified armed men on Friday, August 28 night abducted one Pastor Emmanuel Apeh during a church programme and took him away to an unspecified destination.

The incident ensued at Akaajime in Gboko local government area of Benue state.

According to Vanguard, the armed men stormed the venue of a church crusade faking to be worshippers.

A source quoted in the report said: “They stormed church at behind Mbalemen’s filling station Akaajime, around Mkar-Katsina/Ala road, Gboko about 8 pm.

“And after the programme they trailed Paster Apeh to his car, shooting sporadically to scare people away and immediately taking him away on a motorbike to an unknown destination.

“We gathered that they have already started making demands and asking for N10million ransom for his release.

“His devastated wife and family members have been making frantic efforts to have him released before it is too late.”

The Benue state police command spokesperson, Catherine Anene, verified the kidnapping and said its operatives were working round the clock to secure the release of the victim.
