Gunmen Attack Niger Communities, Kill 21, Kidnap 40

Twenty-one persons killed and forty kidnapped in repeated bandits attack on Shiroro communities in Niger State.

The attacks occurred early Tuesday morning when about three hundred gunmen on motorcycles roared Kurege, Sabon Gida, Sararai and Rafin Kanya shooting sporadically.

An eye witness who is also an indigene of Shiroro Local Government, Galadima Salisu while verifying the incident told newsmen in a telephone discussion that unless governments at all levels come to their rescue, he is scared that the area could be taken over by bandits who operate at will.

Secretary to the Niger State Government, Ahmed Ibrahim Matane authenticated the incident. He, nevertheless, withheld knowledge of the exact number of people killed.

Matane affirmed that Niger State government is doing everything possible within its powers to address the problem of insecurity tormenting its people.

Armed bandits in Niger State increased their level of crimes on the state since the news of the appointment of new service chiefs by President Muhammadu Buhari.
