Governor Sanwo-Olu orders civil servants not to resume work as lockdown directive expires

Only civil servants on Grade Level 15 and above are to resume work on Tuesday May 5.
There shall be a curfew from 8 pm to 6 am from Monday on.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu stated only civil servants on Grade Level 15 and above are to resume work on Tuesday May 5.

Sanwo-Olu gave the order on Sunday May 3. During a press conference ahead of relaxation of the COVID-19 lockdown within the commercial metropolis on Monday May 4. He stated the delayed resumption is a deliberate try to forestall overcrowding within the state.

The Lagos State Governor disclose that only emergency employees and people on important duties allowed to work on Monday.

He stated, “In amending the work guidlines earlier issued, which stopped members of the public service from Grade Level 1 to 12 from going to work.

We’ve got need to overview this position. So, we are extending the directive to all civil servants, no matter the level. All civil servants should steer clear of work on Monday.

“On Tuesday, only officers from Grade Level 15 and above have specific permission to come back to work. Additionally, all other essential officers that may need to be at work can be knowledgeable by the Accounting Officer of every Ministry as may be required.

“From Monday on, there is a curfew from 8 pm to 6 am and all actions inside these hours are prohibited.

Aside from individuals on essential services, which are agro-products, petroleum products, relief materials, and food supplies.

“We need to use this as an illustration of our dedication to the gradual easing of the lockdown. Consequently, we don’t want individuals to hurry out tomorrow and see the easing of the lockdown as an attempt to consider that the spread of the pandemic is all over.”
