Governor Makinde reopens all tertiary institutions in Oyo state

Oyo state government directed the reopening of all tertiary institutions in the state for regular academic activities from Monday, September 28.

Governor Seyi Makinde gave the directive on Tuesday, September 15, in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, with the instruction coming notwithstanding the existence of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Expressing Makindes’s directive, Olasunkanmi Olaleye, commissioner for education, science, and technology, declared that essential Covid-19 guidelines must be put in place for safe reopening.

He also tasked academic boards and the Senate of the tertiary institutions to fix their specific resumption date from September 28 onwards.

In the same vein, primary and secondary students directed to return to classes on Monday, September 21, and follow to the morning and afternoon shifts format.

For students in secondary schools, students in classes JSS1 to JSS3 will resume for morning shift from 8 am to 11am.

On the other hand, their colleagues in SSS1, SSS2 and SSS3 will resume afternoon shift from the hours of 12 noon and 3pm.
