Eid-el-Kabir: Buhari will observe prayers at home with family, says Presidency

President Muhammadu Buhari will be performing the 2020 Eid-el-Kabir prayers with his household at home, the presidency declared.

Garba Shehu, presidential spokesperson, in a report on Wednesday, July 29, said Buhari’s resolution to spend Eid at home is aligned with advisories from the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and the Presidential Task Force, PTF on COVID-19.

The Nigerian leader will not be exiting the presidential villa, Abuja, for his birthplace in Daura, Katsina state to commemorate the Sallah celebrations as he has done in the past.

Recall, two months ago, the Nigerian leader stayed in Aso Rock for the Eid El-Fitr, in obedience to the physical distancing measures placed to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Shehu also noted that the president will not be getting Sallah tributes by religious, community, party, and government leaders in order to prevent the spread of the disease.

President Buhari while advising all citizens to witness the occasion as directed by state and local authorities, repeated the protocols as issued by the PTF that large gatherings should be discouraged.

He hope for all Nigerians a safe and happy Eid.
