Lagos continues to take the lead with 88 new cases in Nigeria’s business capital

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday, May 11 reported that there are 242 new cases of coronavirus in Nigeria.

The NCDC through its official Twitter account revealed that the new cases are as follows:

88 cases recorded in Lagos, 64 in Kano, 49 in Katsina, 13 in Kaduna, 9 in Ogun

6 new cases in Gombe, 4 in Adamawa, 3 in FCT. Whereas 1 case in Ondo, Oyo, Rivers, Zamfara, Borno and Bauchi repectively.

This implies actually 4,641 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Nigeria. Whereas 902 discharged, 150 individuals died as a result of viral disease.

Therefore, with the new figures, Nigeria is steadily inching nearer to the 5,000 mark.

However, there are fears that the numbers could proceed to rise astronomically given the population of the nation and the low testing capability of the NCDC.
