COVID-19: FG issues 7 key important facts Nigerians should know about vaccination

The ministry on its Twitter page announced that the vaccination exercise is conducted by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and registration is to be done on the agency’s website: nphcda.gov.ng.

Other facts of the exercise as revealed by the ministry are given below:

1. Free of charge

According to the ministry, the registration is entirely free. It added that those applying for it should only make sure they have an internet-enabled device.

2. Protected website

It also assured Nigerians that the website is protected from being tampered with by hackers and cyber-criminals. To ensure this, it said there is a team of ICT professionals whose task is to protect the site at all times.

3. Availability of registration agents

The federal government said in case persons who are up to 18 years and above without access to the internet intend to register, they can simply walk up to the nearest vaccination site in their wards, get registered on-site, and scheduled for the jab.

4. Target age

It explained that at the moment, the target age for e-registration is 18 years and beyond in Nigeria.

5. Assitance for aged persosn

Some elderly persons without access to mobile handsets can be assisted by people who do so long as their details are entered online during the registration.

6. Use of QR code

The ministry explained that the QR code on the vaccination card authenticates the holder’s records which will be relevant to Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) of the government.

7. Vaccination card only for vaccinated persons

Lastly, the ministry said no one who has not taken part in the vaccination exercise can own a card.
