BREAKING: Buhari orders payment of NDDC scholarship students

President Muhammadu Buhari instructed the payment of fees and earnings of deserted scholarship students of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) schooling abroad.

Charles Odili, who is the NDDC Director, Corporate Affairs, declared Buhari took the order to Senator Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs ensuing the protest of the students.

Odili assured that the students disbursed by the end of the week clarifying that the interruption affected by the unexpected death of Chief Ibanga Etang, former Acting Executive Director, Finance and Administration, EDFA, of the Commission in May.

No more than the Executive Director (Finance) and the Executive Director (Projects) capable of signing for the delivery of funds from the Commission’s domiciliary accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

With the sudden death of Chief Etang, the transfer of funds put on hold till the appointment of a new EDFA. Senator Akpabio, the Honourable Minister, revealed President Buhari informed on the demonstration by students at the Nigerian High Commission in London, sorted that all stop off be removed to pay the students by the end of this week. We await a new EDFA to be appointed this week. Once that is completed, they would all be paid.
