A Black Lives Matter protest in Austin, Texas turned out bloody as one of many protesters was shot dead. The protesters gathered in downtown Austin in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement when shots rang out Saturday evening.
A clip of the scene shared online confirmed protesters marching through the streets and shouting “Black lives” and waving banners reading “BLM”. Seconds later, 5 shots fired and the video loses focus as protesters scream and run for cover.

Police in Texas confirmed a person was shot and killed at 9:52pm. Austin senior Police Officer Katrina Ratcliff mentioned the one that shot and killed the person had fired from inside a vehicle. Mayor of Austin Steve Adler mentioned that town is “shaken” after the night of carnage;
“All I know is that someone dying while protesting is horrible.
“Our city is shaken and, like so many in our community, I’m heartbroken and stunned”.
The suspect has been detained, cooperating and there is no longer a threat to the public.
