Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu on Monday mentioned 41,863 officers and men of various ranks promoted since he assumed office in January 2019.
Adamu, who spoke in the course of the decoration of newly promoted senior police officer at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, mentioned the promotions guided by the ideas of seniority and merit.
The IGP mentioned these reflected in their record of self-discipline and invaluable experience.
Adamu noted that the capability of the human belongings of any organisation determines its capability, particularly at strategic administration level, which is key to the attainment of its goals and mandate.
The IGP mentioned no organisation can advance beyond the competence and dedication of its strategic leaders; neither can any organisational goals and plans attained without a corp of highly committed personnel to drive the implementation process.
He mentioned this position is much more essential for a legislation enforcement agency that’s strategic to inner safety because the Nigeria Police Force.
Adamu explained that this is because the rapidly changing dynamic of crime and the attendant growing risk to safety requires high quality police managers which have the requisite skilled information, expertise and competency to successfully present leadership directed at managing such internal security realities.
The IGP mentioned the import of that is that any organisation that doesn’t, or delays in recognising the potentials of its personnel and rewarding them by selling these eligible on the acceptable time, dangers retaining a crop of extremely demotivated officers who wouldn’t be optimally devoted to the requirements and objectives of the institution.
“It’s in cognisance of this that I’ve since my appointment as Inspector General of Police been collaborating effectively with the Police Service Commission (PSC) in ensuring that appropriate processes are placed to identify and promptly elevate deserving officers with unblemished service records for promotion,” he mentioned.
Adamu urged the promoted officers to help the Nigeria Police in achieving its mandate, stay civil to fellow residents and guided by the necessity to respect extant legal guidelines.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, hailed the IGP for the innovative and revolutionary style launched since his appointment.
